Bilal Masjid Outreach/Interfaith Activities
The Outreach/Interfaith office of the Bilal Masjid (Mosque) was formed in 2001 with the goal of creating better undertanding of Islam and Muslims amongst friends and neighbors of different faiths. We have been engaged in many activities that seek to foster open dialogues to help clear public misconceptions about Islam and Muslims. We also participate in events that benefit the community at large. We are a volunteer-driven organization whose existence was to build mutual understanding and respect with people of various traditions. We are part of the American fabric and we aim to enrich its values with our own.
Open Houses
Once or twice a year we invited our colleagues, friends, neighbors to come to our center to learn more about Islam. After the tragedy of 9/11, there was a surge of interest in learning about Islam and these open houses have worked well in eliminating common stereotypes about Islam and Muslims. In many cases, our guests had never met Muslims in their lives prior to these events and/or been in a mosque. The events were not only educational, but fun and memorable since our guests had a chance to taste food from different parts of the world for FREE. If you want to be invited to our next open house please send us your contact info at [email protected].

Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity
